The Sydney Review April 24

Not a great day here personally which is disappointing. Around the mark, but no cigar. Track played even enough. Let’s find a few to follow.

AHEAD START the obvious here, but lightly raced, showed a great turn of foot and from all reports, paraded like a horse better than this grade. MORE SUNDAYS good from too far back. Better suited 12/1400m with a gate.

HIGH SUPREMACY bloused from the clouds by one very lightly raced in SENOR TOBA and he’s completely jumped out of the ground here 2nd up runs spaced. Ridiculously good training effort, but the horse obviously is a big talent. Ran faster time than the older horses same trip and his L600m was clearly superior to anything in this race. Qld Derby?

ZAAKI gave the winner 6kg and made a long sustained run going 16-2000m 2nd up. Clear run of the race and should be followed. GREY LION too far back but convinced he’s airborne.

Outrageous betting move for PORT LOUIS and he was given none way back, held up, flashed home. Enormous follow in the Spring. Surely anything 2000m+ he’s eating up and he’s in the right yard. HILAL covered much more ground than CONVERGE and that was the difference.

MASKED CRUSADER looks to have been beaten by the gate. Stepped well, but gee he got dragged back an awful long way. His 10.50 4-200m was electric, but too much to do. He’s an Everest horse. KOLDING relished dry. CASCADIAN was something licked. Even luck he wins. Flying! May well become a proper WFA horse in the Spring. Not sure where FIFTY STARS goes but my god this was a good run for a 2000m horse. Race fastest L200m and work through the line elite.

ROYAL CELEBRATION can’t buy luck. Held up badly fresh, posted 3 wide here and gave the winner his back. Swap runs, swap result. His run was tremendous and he’s flying. If he backs up into the Hawkesbury Gold Cup this weekend and draws a gate, he will win. NUDGE wants 1600m. LAURE ME IN a very good return for an 16-2000m horse. Clear RF L4/200m. BRANDENBURG had zero luck and he’s a good horse. Poor fresh returning Gelded, but wasn’t fit. No luck here, big follow.

LOST AND RUNNING dominant and outstanding. Big future. MORE PROPHETS right on track for the Dark Jewel over 1400m.
