The Sydney Review 12/12
2 months agoAFFINITY BEYOND clocked 9.90 from the 8-600m and 10.54 from the 6-400m. Ridiculous speed up front and she did very well to only start giving ground in the last 50m to be beaten 3.6L. Forgive. Nice win from REMLAPSE GEM and he’s lightly raced with upside. Strong late, can win at 1200m now.
REVEAL THE MAGIC a touch unlucky and burst through a fraction too late. Off 5 weeks there, can win next start. Forgive TORO TORO. He’s a monster and had to race tight after being outsped early. He’s a 1200m horse and can be followed.
This will be a very good form race. THE FACE worked early to find the front and stuck on well. Stable gets them ready, but no public trial, he goes well 2nd up on a Good surface. SALINA DREAMING was fresh too and had the perfect cart into it, but she’s building an outstanding record. This was too sharp for TRAVEST, but he closed off hard and he will be getting over the mile in time - good horse. REDOUTE’S IMAGE and KNICKPOINT both great returns, the ater home in the F L600m of the meet. Good race this.
SIGNIFICANCE perfectly rated and strong win. PURRFECT DEAL will win some good staying races over the next few years I’d suggest. Copped a big bump late, chasing quite early, but grinded out the F L200m split of the race. Huge upside.
ACROBAT sat OSL, put the race to bed with a huge 10.57 4-200m split and home in 32.55! Incredibly strong performance for a 2yo on debut. Seriously quality animal. FESTIVAL DANCER got way too far back, but she has a lovely big stride and she was home in 32.89, the 2nd F OTR. Top debut for longer.
Pop the bet alert on SNAPDANCER for when she gets up to the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions over the 1300m. This was an outstanding win in very fast time and she was dominant late home in 32.80 and a last 200m split of 11.15 running away! Severely hard to beat anywhere she goes - airborne! TAILLEUR was trapped deep without cover, so did well to run into 2nd. STARLA was home in fast splits and she was back in trip. 1400m next start yes.
ATHIRI sat OSL and was just way too good. Building a nice record now. SOUTHERN LEGEND good first up and gap to 3rd. SPACEBOY raced way too keen after a keen parade and his hopes of landing the plunge were long gone when he pulled in the run. Jock noted he needs some more give in the track.
Outstanding front running ride from R King on an in form Mare back in trip the broke a 10 race Randwick duck. ROYAL CELEBRATION trapped deep without cover after a good start. Would have loved the jockey to show some intent and press forward instead of snicking back - the leader won. CRIADERES is clearly a serious talent. He has a G1 motor, but he has a racing pattern that makes it very difficult to win big races. If they can sort that out and get him to at least jump and settle midfield, he becomes a beast.
Lovely ride on KIRWIN’S LANE to save petrol on the fence in run, then have the patience to get him off heels and into clear air. VG turn of foot when out and his economical run in transit was probably the difference at the end, with SPIRIT’S RIDGE a part of the early speed battle. Bit of deja vu about the run of PRIMITIVO. He went 15-1600m 2nd up, was ridden stone cold last but made a long sustained run, ran the R F 8-200m split and was still good through the line. He has the Magic Millions staying race in mind and he bolted in the last year off an identical lead up. Follow. NEW ARRANGEMENT was absolutely bolting for a run and you can’t say he’s not in the finish with luck, but he copped absolutely none of it. Wouldn’t have minded him to be patient and wait for a run, rather than force the issue inside so early. Ultimately, the door shut on him and hard. He’s going well.
I AM VINNIE came north and was strong late, all honours. JUVENTUS held up at the 300m and looked the winner once he got the split, but the winner had a superior turn of foot.
