Slipper favourite shines, Guineas winner plain
1 year agoGolden Slipper favourite Tassort sent a reminder as to why he's at the top of the market for the world's richest two-year-old race at the Rosehill trials on Monday.
The Godolphin juvenile won Heat 10 under James McDonald, clocking 55.79 seconds for the 895-metre journey, while his final 600m was run in 37.70 seconds.
Tassort finished with a 1.3-length margin over unraced Team Snowden colt Heart Breaker.
A son of Brazen Beau, Tassort created a huge impression when winning by 5.3 lengths on debut over 1100m at Rosehill in November.
He is likely to resume in the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday week.
Tassort, who is a half-sister to Alizee and Astern, heads Slipper betting at $4.50 with Sportsbet, ahead of Exhilarates ($8.50), while Loving Gaby and McLaren ($11) are on the third line of betting. Heart Breaker is a $41 chance.
The $3.5 million G1 Golden Slipper (1200m) will be run at Rosehill on March 23.
