Moody plays down training return
1 year agoPeter Moody says he has no immediate plans to make a training comeback.
The trainer of the great Black Caviar walked away from the game in 2016 after receiving a 12-month ban (six suspended) for the administering of cobalt to one of his horses.
The question of a potential return to training was raised on SEN’s Moody on the Mic in the wake of the Darren Weir disqualification, but the 56-time Group 1 winner was quick to shut that notion down: “No, I couldn’t fill D.Weir’s shoes.
“It’s probably a great time and opportunity to do it with a lot of horses available, but no.
“Why? I’m enjoying life, I’m enjoying being an owner, I enjoy being a racing manager for Rosemont Stud and Wylie Dalziel Racing.
“Logistically for me, Ballarat is on the other side of town, I’m out in the Dandenong Ranges.
“If I was going to train again, Pakenham at Tynong would be my new home, but that’s not the case either.”
Moody spoke more specifically about why his name may have popped up in training circles once again.
“I was at Ballarat the previous few mornings with the DK Weir camp, and that is probably where the rumour came from,” he added.
“I was picking up horses, which I didn’t wish to be doing, but that’s the way of the world.”
