Moody gives strong push for Kementari in CF Orr
1 year agoKementari is positioned nicely to win first-up this weekend, according to Peter Moody.
Godolphin trainer James Cummings has placed the striking son of Lonhro in the 1400m Group 1 CF Orr Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday and former leading trainer Moody feels it is a clever move.
In-form jockey James McDonald will ride Kementari for the first time in the 15-horse field which includes the likes of D’Argento, Land of Plenty, Whispering Brook, Brave Smash and Redkirk Warrior.
“I reckon they’ve got it right here, seven furlongs fresh at Caulfield,” he said on SEN’s Moody on the Mic.
“It’s probably the softest 1400-metre race, not quality-wise, but distance-wise first-up.
“It’s not a hard 1400. It’s that little bit between the sprint and the mile and I think they’ve deadset aced it here.
“Fourth behind Winx (in the Winx Stakes), second in the Memsie, brilliant run behind Humidor.

“Gate 2, he’s going to need a little bit of luck, he’s going to find a bit of traffic, he’s going to be three back the fence you would think.
“J.McDonald, he really rode Caulfield superbly in the Spring. He’s come down (from Sydney) to ride him, no doubt. I know he’s riding other horses as well.
“His trial the other day in Sydney, visually was fantastic, it was super. He looks to be flying, he’s going to take a hell of a lot of rolling.”
Kementari’s last run at 1400m was second to Humidor in the Memsie Stakes.
What a ride!

“Looks a great race for Kementari. Even luck, Kementari for me.
“I’m not totally against D’Argento but I think he’s going to need luck.
“Where’s the speed going to be in this race? (Whispering Brook) might control the race from the front, soft sectionals first 600-800m, is going to take a fair bit of running down.”
