Gibbo's Doomben review- George Moore day

Review of Saturday racing from Doomben 30/11

Hand picking four races to focus on out of the meeting, there should be a few we can follow with confidence if connections don’t aim too high.

Race 4- The WINNING RUPERT 1200m for 3YR OLDS.

LE PALMIER run up to his last effort, up on speed, kick and won. A good effort and no knock on the win. BATTLE STRIKE improved sharply off the first up run and I feel he is one that might be about to peak at the right time. ELEVEN ELEVEN ran 3rd, my concern before the race was the 1200m and he was just a touch weak late, back to 1100m would be ideal and he can win if that’s the case. Really liked the effort of WAPITI (best L200m of the race), he was the best from the back and if they want to take a step back in grade this horse will simply win.

Race 5: 1100m BM78.

Just a benchmark 78 but a pretty decent race to be honest. All honours with BOOMTOWN LASS, she missed the start and had to use a bit of juice to find a spot. She ended up with the perfect run behind the leaders and from there it was race over. She has lengths improvement in her and her GF will be MM day on the gold coast. Liked the return of BRING IT HOME POP and the runs of MUSICAL GENIUS and DENARIUS also got a pass mark.

Race 8: The George Moore 1200m G3

Good runs everywhere here but not splitting them so interesting to see how the form lines up moving forward. CHAPTER AND VERSE got a long way back in the run, was able to grab the back of OUTBACK BARBIE before the corner and that mare had been three wide with cover throughout. They made their runs together and simply a nose between them on the line. Both efforts excellent. CRACK ME UP was an excellent return with the big weight and just condition gave way late. BOOMSARA was a good return and he might be back near his best. SHARPE HUSSLER continues to run well, they have to aim lower if they want some prizemoney.

Follow: CRACK ME UP when he gets to a big track.

Race 9: CL6 PLATE 1350m

Probably the unlucky runner of the day SOXAGON. Slow out of the gates, copped a check not long after and ran the best L400 and 200m of the day with no result. Not much more he could have done and the effort was outstanding. SNITZ has found his groove since he has been ridden positive and been put into his races. Another good win from him here. ENTERPRISE PRINCE just keeps improving everytime he hits the track. Returned off a let up and savaged the line. He is another looking for a bigger track. TRAIL OF GLORY good again but this race was never really going to set up ideal.
