Gai does it again as Transact takes VRC St Leger

Dundeel gelding Transact made all to score a determined win in the Listed VRC St Leger, handing trainer Gai Waterhouse her fourth win in the race in seven years.

And for co-trainer Adrian Bott, it was back-to-back successes after Runaway scored 12 months ago.

"It's so exciting, it's so exciting," Waterhouse told Racing.com.

Waterhouse said Transact would now be set for the Group 1 South Australian Derby.

"We're going to South Australia to win the Derby," she said.

Transact was rated perfectly out in front by Luke Currie.

"It's one of the most special days on the calendar and it's great to ride a winner," he said.

Rock Dove ran second, American In Paris was third, while favourite Stars Of Carrum came home in fourth.

Meanwhile, promising three-year-old Zoutori may be Queensland bound after he won the Auckland Racing Club Handicap.

Co-trainer Mat Ellerton said the G2 Queensland Guineas is an option for the Zoustar gelding.

"But then, if you go to Queensland, it’s a quick turnaround for the spring so I’m just not sure," Ellerton said.

"The Queensland Guineas is the first week of June so maybe he might get there.

"He needs to get his rating up near 100 to get a start in anything when he’s four in the spring. I’ve been there, done that."
