DOOMBEN REVIEW - 28TH NOVEMBER

Race 1 – LIGULATE was in a class of his own here.

Race 2 – Poor ride here on BABY WONG. Dittman bluffed Mallyon out of crossing him. More than happy to follow BABY WONG wherever he goes.

Race 3 – Throughly deserved win here to GIN 'N' BITTERS. It wasn't made easy for her either. The horse to follow here for mine is LOVE SQUIRRELS. Ridden negatively and had to change course in the straight and then wasn't clear until about 150m from home with no momentum. 1200m is going to be more to his liking.

Race 4 – A bit going on here. First of all great run GOOD SOIZE. BEG ME took here nowhere and she was forced to make her run early. Really good effort considering it was he first go up in grade. SEE MARIE copped one of the best rides from the mile start drawn wide. Not an OLYMPIC CLASS fan and he wouldn't have won in my opinion but he was unlucky. Good first up run by PURE DEAL. A mile isn't his go. 1800m and beyond will be. DUNE FORTY FIVE was given a kind time by the rider and got home very well I thought. Looking for further and probably a set of blinkers.

Race 5 – Mallyon seemed to miss the boat on MOUNT TABORA here. A very good run and probably should have won the race. I'm a fan of both ANGUS THE BLACK & MISS PENFOLD. Angus was a great run here ridden negatively and ran home very well. Would have been in the finish if it weren't for the gate. Miss P has gone to the line untested just on the heels of the placegetters. Good return for this most unlucky mare.

Race 6 – PURRFECT DEAL was impressive here but she was very well ridden and had all the luck up the inside. Pretty much the opposite for POPULIST. He had zero momentum at a crucial stage and whilst it cost him I thought he was a little disappointing when clear. Nevertheless forgiving that run under the circumstances.

Race 7 – BALLER is starting to become a heartbreaker. Only getting clear and wound up in the last 100m. With his pattern Doomben doesn't seem his go. Good return here by PHANTOM FALCON who proved last prep that 1300-1400m is more his go.

Race 8 – What a star this bloke is THE HARROVIAN. I was against him back in distance with top weight but he made a bird of it. Great ride Brad Stewart finding the fence.

Race 9 – Typical mares race this. NIEDORP led rather easily at an even tempo. Great ride and great tactics.
