DOOMBEN REVIEW - 10TH OCTOBER

Race 1 – SOUL DANCER had really good form for this race despite being a maiden still and in the end that was the difference, getting 4kg off MAGIC CONQUEROR. Zero take away.

Race 2 – Tough win by TRUE MOONLIGHT. Kept them all out early and staved them off late. Good merit in MISHANI DELIGHT'S run. Fradd had to go on her early as LE RUBIS was weakening forcing her to make a long wide run before the turn. She herself weakened late but post race she was found to be galloped on. Also merit in ALERT AND READY'S run. whilst she was suited by the tempo she did run home in outstanding sections and was ridden negatively early.

Race 3 – GOLDEN EIGHTY trialled very well and he brought that to the races here. Stuck behind a wall of horses that took him nowhere he only got clear just inside the last 200m and he was too strong.

Race 4 – No horror show for GENZAI THE WOLF today. He got the luck and he won accordingly. I've been a fan of GIN 'N' BITTERS since her last preparation and the Healey camp made the right call to ride her quietly so as to not put her to the sword. She couldn't win but it was a great run under the circumstances and she will be mighty hard to beat once she draws a gate to get the perfect run in a race like this.

Race 5 – GREY LION had the best lead up run/setup for this and showed his class outstaying 2 very in form Brisbane stayers in FREE FLY TOO & FASTNET CYCLONE with his top weight.

Race 6 – BATANGAS ENTRY was ridden perfectly by Jimmy O and bolted in accordingly. He will improve off that run being only 2nd up. He has definitely come back bigger and better. Behind him not alot doing except for GLITTER STRIP who is also a must follow off this. Pre-race the Gollan camp declared they would ride her quiet so she was restrained after jumping well to go back to the last pair and Thompson did his best to weave through only to find trouble. He only got clear on her in the last 100m and she finished off really well. Placed right she can be winning soon.

Race 7 – Georgina Cartwright lit this race up on LE PALMIER and probably cost herself or HEARTS LIFTED the race. It was setup for something to come from behind and UNGUARDED was that horse despite stepping a length or 2 slow. No great take away accept for maybe SPENDING MY TIME who is just about ready to win perhaps slightly back in grade and up to 1350m.

Race 8 – Granted she had a great run in the race but after implying she was lucky to win the Weetwood JADENTOM has made that sound silly absolutely exploding through to score again in great time. She buried her opposition.

Race 9 – BEAUFORT PARK got one of the rides of the day here from Travis Wolfgram. Drawn 11/14 he landed one out one back on him and he was the horse to beat from there even with the slow tempo. Forgiving FISTICUFFS here as he was slow away and with tempo against him the big field wasn’t going to help. He hammered home once clear just inside the 200m mark and was alongside the winner shortly after the post. Would love to see him back to 1200m on a bigger track. TOKORIKI LAD was really good here first up from the back. He gets better into his preparation this lad so he should be in for a good one. This was way too short for RAQEEQ and nothing more than a pipe opener. He went through the line well. He will most likely be a horse to follow a few runs in.
