Super racing for Guineas day. Runners had to navigate a very firm track and a stronger than anticipated NW wind.

Race 4 Thoroughbred Club Stakes 1200m

This was an ugly race when SHIHONKA finally crossed after doing plenty of work Childs put the brakes on and caused plenty of carnage from there. SNEAKY FIVE did a great job off such a long break to get the result. CRYSTAL BOUND lost no admirers after facing the breeze for a good way she was left vulnerable late. ROBODIRA, SPINNING and STAR WALTZ all caught in the ruck and should be forgiven.

Race 5 Lexus Schillaci Stakes 1100m

Currie peach here on SAVATOXL getting the ideal cover behind a very brave DOSH who almost did what nobody else did either. Several others ran on well but DOSH was run of the race in my opinion, anything 1100m and lower she's going to take some catching once again.

Race 6 Neds Might And Power 2000m

ZAAKI went around very short, Williams elected not to lead and he got keen. My view is that he was worried about the wind, track was very firm and the horse should be forgiven, if you took the shorts here well that's on you, not the horse. Certainly respect the tactics adopted by the others riders to get him beaten here, that's what WFA racing is all about. Those forward went early and no surprise the two closers in PROBABEEL and NONCONFIRMIST fought it out given the prevailing conditions.

Race 7 Senet Northwood Plume Stakes 1200m

DIRTY THOUGHTS got some valuable black type here, she's been a terrific mare for connections and it was a very clever ride. Certainly forgiving of LA MEXICANA and TAILLEUR despite the fact it wasn't a quickly run race. Not sure what he was thinking on BROOKLYN HUSTLE but it was another forgive, that racing style however just loves pain.

Race 8 Neds Caulfield Guineas 1600m

They went very hard early here leading to a fast overall time. ANAMOE showed he's all class here with a dominant win. From a tricky gate, Oliver got him in a plum spot and he did the rest. CAPTIVANT gave him a cart and was game. ARTORIUS messed up the start and chased well, good effort just not the same level as the winner with those manners. FORGOT YOU and HITOTSU did their derby credentials no harm, both are going well. They are talking about a Cox Plate with ANAMOE, CAPTIVANT, and even ARTORIUS. While it's always fantastic when the 3YOs take on the race, my view is that more often than not you want them to be a real staying type and that ANAMOE may be a bit brilliant for this year's edition given the speed should be reasonable. Time will tell.

Race 9 Hyland Race Colours Toorak Hcp 1600m

Jye McNeil put in a pearler on I'M THUNDERSTRUCK who is all class with a booming win here, off to Sydney now and little doubt he measures up. SUPERSTORM is going very well and ran on well again, worth noting the weight he gave away to the winner. I queried TOFANE at the trip but she ran very well all be it with a soft run. EMBOLISM loomed very nicely here, back in grade a touch he should be very hard to beat.

Race 10 Neds Herbert Power Stakes 2400m

Pedestrian tempo in this, Oliver made his move on DELPHI early and he too is all class, this trip is ideal for him and is well weighted now for the Caulfield Cup, look out INCENTIVISE. Fair effort by THE CHOSEN ONE who mixes his form a little but liked this run. HASTA LA WAR was terrific in this his acid test, something a little easier and he's in the game.

I'm being a little more forgiving of runners who faced the breeze down the side.
