The Race Club

9 September 2021
The track raced superbly given the rain in the lead up and you could be anywhere other than very wide and win.

Race 1 Pfd Food Services Hcp 1500m

FORGOT YOU was a horse we wanted to follow from the Flemington meeting last month, well supported late here after a much better parade, he looked to be all at sea before picking up the bit and mowing down a super gallant SANDY PRINCE who had been softened up and frankly, the lead at all costs attitude, may have brought him undone. They both are going well.

Race 3 Inglis 2022 Yearling Sales 1200m

NYNUMEROUNO was given a superb ride here to get a result on the race, I think he appreciates the cut out of the track which I think is typical of the breed. Overall I'm concerned about the depth of this race as we look towards the richer 3YO sprint races; I'll more than likely be risking any of these in this grade or above.

Race 4 Powerflo Solutions Hcp 2040m

DEGRAVES appreciated the cut in the track, the claim, and a great ride to get up in the last hop, Alana Kelly has really come a long way the last few months, well done to her. BARADE is ticking over nicely this prep, he looks in need of further now but still hit the line, going well. No knock HEART OF PUISSANCE, he'd had quite the interrupted lead up over the last few weeks and can improve next time.

Race 5 Mittys McEwen Stakes 1000m

This wasn't expected to be, nor was, a fast run contest. THE INFERNO made no lie of his jump out between runs with a big sprint here, he travelled sweetly and knocked them over. SEPTEMBER RUN was off the bit earlier than most but loved her work late, if they met at 1200m she's the one I'd be siding with. PORTLAND SKY had his chance here, he was the map horse but it has to be said he was a shade disappointing.

Race 6 3 Point Motors Atlantic Jewel 1200m

ZOUZARELLA sat wide here, she was dominant, all honors were hers and while it gets harder from here she looks very talented. MAC 'N' CHEESE is loaded with talent herself but continues in her races and jump outs to get the start wrong, she was better with that here, but she's with the big girls now and needs to iron that out. ARGENTIA was chopped out at a key stage but wasn't travelling anyway, she can improve out in trip and/or on drier and needs to.

Race 8 Clamms Seafood Feehan Stakes 1600m

SUPERSTORM rewarded the ride here getting up late, you'd think he's going to get better on a bigger track. A little knock on this race is that SOUND and REALM OF FLOWERS were two of the better runs, we know both well and this is well short of their best trip. SIERRA SUE is going exceptionally well, she was desperately unlucky here and may have won, she has been up a while but impossible to knock her last three. Jury out on this race for me.
