Yankee Rose filly makes $2.75m

The first foal of dual Group 1 winner Yankee Rose sold 210 million yen ($A2.75m) at the JRHA Foal Sale at Northern Farm in Hokkaido on Tuesday.

The filly is by champion sire Deep Impact and was purchased by Kaneko Makoto, who raced Japan's sensational Triple Crown winner.

By All American, Yankee Rose was bought by Darby Syndications for just $10,000 at the yearling sales and won $2 million in prizemoney.

She won four of her 10 starts, including the G1 Sires' Produce Stakes and G1 Spring Champion Stakes in 2016.

She was also runner-up to Capitalist in the 2016 G1 Golden Slipper and ran third behind Winx in the 2016 G1 Cox Plate.

At the conclusion of her career, Yankee Rose was purchased privately by leviathan Japanese owner-breeder Katsumi Yoshida.
