Williams reckons King can rule in spring
8 months agoStar jockey Craig Williams believes King Of Hastings can measure up in the spring following the two-year- old's impressive win at Caulfield on Saturday.
The Anthony Freedman-trained gelding bombed the start, but recovered to score his second win from three starts.
“How he got there was up to the horse’s decision-making at the start,” Williams told Racing.com.
“He jumped slowly so it was plan ‘D’ or ‘E‘ or ‘F’ but I had the right horse to be able to execute it.
“He was good, he was solid and he was tough and he was very decisive today.
Oh what a race!

“He’s got nice ability, he’ll measure up to the spring and in regard to distance he’s still doing things that will improve with this preparation.
“If he does (improve), I think he’s got scope to go further with him because he was quite solid late.”
The gelded son of Ilovethiscity is likely to head for a short break before returning for a crack at some nice races during the spring.
