Slot in The Everest up for grabs
8 months agoDamion Flower's slot in this year's $14 million The Everest has been put out to tender by Racing New South Wales.
Racing NSW chief executive Peter V'landys said potential buyers have a rare and exclusive opportunity to participate in Australia's richest race
"The slot has attracted many interested parties who are willing to pay the amount necessary," V'landys said.
"The challenge for them is how they can show that they will bring something unique to The Everest. We have already done a Barrier Draw on the Opera House, so you can rule that out."
The tender process closes at 4pm on July 12.
Prominent racehorse owner Flower stands accused of helping to smuggle more than 55 kilograms of cocaine in black duffel bags through Sydney Airport.
He was denied bail on May 30 and will reappear in court next month.
Seven of the 12 slots for the October 19 race have been filled.
