Redzel earns chance for The Everest three-peat

Dual The Everest winner Redzel will be back to defend his crown in October, with Yulong Investments partnering with connections of the star sprinter.

Redzel is the seventh confirmed runner for this year's $14 million race, joining Pierata, Sunlight, Santa Ana Lane, Classique Legend, In Her Time and Arcadia Queen.

The Triple Crown Syndications-owned gelding won the race in 2017 when racing for James Harron, before scoring last year for Yulong.

“We always thought someone would come around but the gloss went off him a little bit at the end of last preparation,” co-trainer Peter Snowden told Racing NSW.

“As I’ve said to everyone, we went extensively over the horse and found a few little issues; just old man issues, nothing serious. Given how sound he has been, and the longevity of his career, it’s been remarkable he hasn’t had any problems before.

“Mr Zhang has been a great supporter of the stable. It’s good to see he has stuck with us this year and given us another chance.”
