Bargain buy nearly brings trainer to tears with city win

On Her Word's win in Race 1 at Warwick Farm on Wednesday almost reduced trainer Rebecca Dunn to tears.

That's because it was the Newcastle trainer's first ever city runner and the filly cost her just $500 (at last year's Inglis Scone Sale).

"A friend of mine happened to be at the sales when she went through (the ring) and I couldn't be there, so I asked her to go and have a look at her… she turned up at my house an absolute mess," a jubilant Dunn told Sky Racing.

"She was no glamour-puss, I can tell you that right now.

"She was a bucker, she used to buck a lot. She actually dislodged a very good saddle bronc rider. But all of sudden she just put it all together and she made us smile."

A three-year-old filly by Benfica out of the Testa Rossa mare Androssa, On Her Word won the 1100-metre maiden by one length under Josh Parr.
