The Race Club's Midweek Oil

Midweek racing in Sydney returns to Warwick Farm today, with seven races set down for decision.

One of the most interesting runners is CALIFORNIA SALTO (No.2) - a daughter of Fastnet Rock that cost $800,000 as a yearling.

The Team Snowden-trained filly is likely to run favourite in Race 3, and Tony Lorch from theraceclub.com.au believes California Salto can notch her first win.

"California Salto ran sixth of 13 on debut, beaten 1.6 lengths over 1000 metres at Kembla Grange, and that was after being held up basically all the way down the straight.

"She then finished second to Minted over this track and distance two weeks ago after an ill-judged ride.

"With a good steer and even luck, I think she will be very hard to beat."

The 1200-metre race goes at 1:55pm AEST.
