The Bostonian does it again

Classy Kiwi sprinter The Bostonian is the clear No.1 seed for the Group 1 Stradbroke handicap at Eagle Farm on June, after completing the Doomben 10,000-Kingsford-Smith Cup double.

A fortnight after his shock win in the Doomben 10,000, the Tony Pike-trained gelding proved that win was no fluke when he again outlasted his rivals in the Kingsford-Smith Cup to remain unbeaten in five starts in Australia.

Veteran hoop Michael Cahill was again aboard the son of Jimmy Choux.

"I was pretty happy after we'd gone a furlong (200m)," Cahill told Sky Racing.

"He's a very good horse, he was electric today. I think he was even better today than when he won the Doomben 10,000.

"The horse has got such a great temperament. He pulls up after a race and doesn’t turn a hair.

"You wouldn't want to be on anything else (in the Stradbroke); he's the ideal type for it, he can race handy and he's got an explosive burst."

Outsider Princess Posh flashed late to grab second ahead of Trekking.

Earlier, Strasbourg took out the G2 Sires' Produce Stakes, Fun Fact caused a mini boilover in winning the G3 Grand Prix Stakes, Savatiano was triumphant in the G3 Coffee Roasters Stakes, while The Candy Man was too good in the G3 Premier's Cup.
