FULL PREVIEW AND TIPS FROM STEEPLES O'CALLAGHAN

Comments

1.Buffalo Bill (1)

Put in his best effort over the jumps last start from 17 goes, but still looks outclassed here.

2.Cartesan (3)

1st time over the sticks, last flat run was a plodding effort but jumping trials were ok, certainly not the worst $100 chance I have

seen.

3.Cotton Eye Joe (8)

Won his last couple on the flat, front runner who should be in it a long way. A little concerned on

His technique when the pressure goes on but if he gets around safely will be hard to beat.

4.Double You Tee (10)

Over raced in jumps debut but still fought on well.  Stable has given two more trials to try and get him to settle.

Been a good performer on the flat and his jumping technique looks the best of the main runners

in the market. Hard to beat

5.El Campeon (12)

Disappointing on jumps debut after winning lead up trial easily , would have to take on trust and I don’t trust it

so not for me.

6.Furioso (6)

Was expectant to perform better on jumps debut , I couldn’t back it after that run.

7.Port Guillaume (5)

From the Melb cup to a maiden hurdle at Ballarat is a fair downgrade, flat  form is good and jumping trials been impressive but

Zero value at even money, big chance but need to look for value elsewhere.

8.Slammer (9)

Scr

9.Swing King (11)

Racing OK on the flat and jumps trial was reasonable, not without a ew claim.

10.Raise Your Sights (7)

Not showing enough for me to entertain here.

11.Upswing (4)

Only had one start over the jumps which was in this race last year when it cruised into the race before bleeding from both nostrils.

Has been given two typical Payne jumping trials where it jogs around at the back, made ground nicely on the flat last start, looks ready to go here.    Scr

12.Vittachi (2)

Couldn’t run out of sight on a dark night

Race 2  3400m Maiden Hurdle

1.Adonis Kick
 (6)

Nice run on the flat as a lead up and I thought he jumps trials were as good as Port Guillume’s , looks a good chance and over the odds.

2.Capellani (11)

Both recent hurdle runs have been solid, will be in it a long way.

3.Fabalot (10)

Flat form is good but over much shorter distances, faded when the pressure went on in jumps debut,

Not without a chance but can’t play at $4.2

4.Goondiwindi (7)

Racing competitively on the flat. Likely to race forward, certainly a big chance but jumping technique could be suspect

Under pressure late , Not sure I can play at the price.

5.Illya (5)

6.Jimmy's Secret (1)

Bit disappointing in recent jump events, would have to improve significantly to feature, from astute stable but I cant have him today.

7.Mont Agel (4)

Change of stable seems to have snapped him back into form, not without a hoper.

8.Ourkhani (3)

Recently changed into the Musgrove camp and makes jumps debut today on the back of two

Reasonable trials, not without a chance

9.Piping Hot (2)

Very slow animal which to be fair they all are so not without hope of plodding home in 1st place but taking $6.5 about

such a plodder is not for me.

10.Rosie Rose (8)

Very limited mare who could plod home for 3rd.

  2 Win 1 Adonis Kick 1.5
  2 Place 1 Adois Kick 1.5
  2 Win 7 Mount Agel 1
  2 SRM 1,2  Top Three 1

Race 3

Summary

Chains of Honour the clear fav here and brings good form in bt i can't go past the toppy Castrofrancaru who like seemingly all Leek runners

is flying , Star Stock liked its trial and Yulong Rising ran past the fav last start and seemed to enjoy the extra distance. Fav certainly a big chance but at the odds ahve to play around it .

3 Win 1  Castrofrancaru 2.5
3 Win 8 Star Shock 1.25
3 SRM 1,6 Both Top Three 0.625
3 SRM 6,8 Both Top Three 0.625

Race 4

Looks a race in 2 and the money keeps coming for the recent import Bell Ex One. for me though i am stikcing with Stern Idol. It would be vunerable if they pressured ealry but i doubt anything can keep up ansd expect him to have a massisve early lead again, has doubled in price since early markets and price now appeals, should be a ripper finish.

4 Win 1 Stern Idol 5

Race 5

Preview

Roland Garros an impressive winner last start , Brungle Bertie drops in class and i think these two will battle it out. AT the odds have to play BB.

Mighty Oasis should sit forward and be an excellent place chance.

5 Win 4 Brungle Bertie 2.5
5 Place 3 Mighty Oasis 2.5

Race 6 GNS

The grand final of the season and i can't go past the champ Fyling agent.

What a great way to finish the season with The Grand National
Which sees my fav Flying Agent as the fav, he has returned
brilliantly  this season after injury. The kiwi The Cossack
was disappointing first up but form on Heavy is exceptional
and I better showing expected today. Early money has poured
in for St Arnica who is racing very well , I love the way
Flying Agent can move into the race under a tight hold
and save effort until last 300m , I think he finishes
season with a bang .
