Another ripping day yesterday with the 2 races over the sticks suberb contests. We managed to finish on the right side of the ledger for the day again after a nice collect in the earlier race. Saunter Boy proved too strong in The Galleywood for our hope Out and Dreaming in what was an epic edition of the race.
Today I was keen on the 2 Henry Dwyer runners, he has his stable running through brick walls at the moment and that is certainly helpful in a slugging finish over 5500m!! Budd Fox was my bet of the carnival so it and Britannicus coming out that has thrown a spanner in the works.
Race 1 Novice Hurdle
1, Brungle Bertie
Impressive trial before smashing them at Pakenham, looks the one.
2, Pueblo
Good win at Pakenham in weaker class and looks a danger to the fav.
3, Hush Writer
Was a bit weak at Pakenham and stable not firing at the bool, pass.
4, Blandford Lad
Impressive win on flat over 2500m at Flem then looked in trouble before getting outside fence and did best work last 200m when winning as odds on pop at Pakenham. Has to be a huge chance.
5, Roland Garros. Scr
6, El Diez
Looks outclassed.
7, Cernan
Can’t see him turning the tables on the toppy.
8, Devon Miss
Tries her heart this mare, as brave as they get. Will still be trying at the end when its got too hard for others.Place chance
9, Onset
Ran well for us on Tuesday but couldn’t back in this which is much stronger race.
Summary
Brungle Bertie looks very hard to beat, he is the one I want to be on. Devon miss will keep plugging away and could run into a place.
Betting
Brungle Bertie. 3 Units Win
Devon Miss. .5 Units Place
Same Race Multi Brungle Bertie 1st 2/ Devon Miss 1st 4 .5 Units ( Should have over $6)
Race 6 The Grand Annual
1, Bit Of A Lad -Scr
2, Police Camp
Gutsy campaigner who will give his best , others may be too quick for him but could plod into a place.
3, Getting Leggie
Won at the carnival last year over the steeples. Possible leader here but the distance is the concern and all the leaders are being run down this week, others appeal.
4, Britannicus- Scr
5, Master Poet
I liked his lead up run at Pak and his trial at the bool. Looks a chnace at odds.
6, Vanguard
Did the job for us on Tuesday with a brilliant last gasp win. Looks an emerging star and is a huge chance again here.
7, Heberite
Was a bit disappointing at Pakenham but stable horses do tend to find more in their Grand Final's , can win.
8, Budd Fox - Scr
9, American in Paris
Completes the Wilde’s stable strong hand in the race and with the a couple of others cioming out of race is now a live chance.
10, San Remo
Finished off well in the trial but others may have too much class for him.
Trialled ok the other day but looks well held here.
11, My King’s Counsel
Just can’t win
12, Eye’s Are Blue
Steeples will be hitch hiking home if this lobs !
Summary
Budd Fox was going to be a max bet so have had to rethink things after it coming out. Hopefully we aere well in front for the carnival by this race
so just going to look for some value and not outlay as much. Vanguard was awesome winning on Tuesday but at current price of $1.75 i couldn't enetrtain when stepping up to 5500m over the big sticks on a H10 and 2 days after a gruelling race, certainly the one to beat but can't take thate price. Numbers 7,6,5,2
Betting
If Herberite runs to his best will take a power of beating
Master Poet looks greta value to be
7, Herberite. 2 units win
5, Master Poet 1 Unit Win
Same Race Multi Herb and MP to both run top 3 , don't take less than $6. 1 unit Win .
Good luck today ! Cheers
