Race 5 Ranvet Stks 2000m

Montefilia has gone to a new level, which you could likely infer off her first up effort in the Chipping Norton - although not many would have had her improving her figure as much as she did, to put a hole in the Ranvet, beating the Queen. She topped meeting ratings and is a clear follow. Verry Elleegant wasn't poor by any stretch of the imagination, it was just the up and comer went huge.

Slightly wary of Anamoe going forward from this. Whilst visually impressive, the clock didn't really back up the performance and I want to see him again before making a call on where he is at. Converge no to 2000m at this stage, better suited back to the mile or slightly less. Profondo clearly hasn't come up this prep.

Race 7 The Agency George Ryder Stks 1500m

Forbidden Love saw the 1500m and saw it ok figure wise. I was adamant, that the trip would be her query, however the race panned out well and she finished accordingly. The rating was enough to suggest she can stretch past the 1400m I originally had her pegged at, however I'm still a little wary in a high pressure mile.

Race 8 Longines Golden Slipper 1200m

Fireburn was simply outstanding here. She was explosive through the second and last section, putting the race away with a dynamic sprint. She put in the best performance of any 2YO this season and she can most certainly go on in the Sires. Coolangatta was meritorious given the unusual lead in prep. She is no doubt a star and expect she is still a very good prospect wherever she goes next.

Race 9 Furphy Galaxy 1100m

Incredible!! A class two highway winner to a Group 1 winner in the same prep, backing up week in, week out. A fairy tale story and you will never see this happen again. Not only has Shelby Sixty Six won the race, he has recorded top closing meet figures, suggesting he is still right in his zone. Only a slight regression on his figure in the Champion Stakes - but it was a totally different race. 1000m - 1100m, Heavy track - the best in Australia this season. The new Jungle Edge? Big Parade has clearly come back well, taking a duck to beat him first up. I'd suggest he is in for quite a good prep.

The track raced very evenly and we saw an emerging 3YO prove his last start win was no fluke.

Rail was out and the track played slightly to the front in my opinion but where tempo allowed it was..
